Activity Synopsis: Students learn that they need Five Food Group foods and physical activity to grow up healthy. As they listen to a story about how the Royal Food Family helps a sick little dragon learn about the Five Food Groups, they provide sound effects and pantomime. A group activity to helps them remember the food group names, and the class begins building a Food Group Wall Dragon.

Activity Synopsis: Students identify Milk Group foods that help keep their bones and teeth strong and healthy and participate in hands-on experiences to understand why they need strong bones and teeth. After listening to The Magnificent Milk Group story, they assemble and read a mini-book, Thank Goodness for Cows. Students each complete a Milk Group food dragon scale for the Food Group Wall Dragon.

Activity Synopsis: Students learn the names of foods in the Meat Group and that Meat Group foods, along with physical activity, are important for building strong muscles. After hearing the The Mighty Muscle Meat Group story, students complete a worksheet and take turns pantomiming ways they use muscles. The y continue building the Food Group Wall Dragon by adding a scale to the Meat Group circle.

Using rhyme, Queen Anna Banana reviews the Milk, Meat and Vegetable Groups, and then students correct a mixed-up Fruit Group worksheet . After a simple demonstration about healthy skin, students write short Fruit Group poems, and finally, students add Fruit Group scales to the Food Group Wall Dragon.

They read a story called "Others" Come Last and learn that "Others" do not help the body stay healthy and grow the way Five Food Group foods do. Using a cause-and-effect exercise, students review the importance of eating from all Five Food Groups each day. Finally, a tail for the "Others" category is added to the Food Group Wall Dragon.

At the end of the story, King Henry the Egg changes Little D's name to reflect his nutrition accomplishments.
